A Decade of Abiding and Working to my Own Utopian Playland

April 4th, 2014, was the date I became a Dudeist Minster, and I couldn’t be more proud of the journey I’ve been on, so I felt it was only fitting to have a blog post written up to talk about it.

I decided to join mostly because I was a recovering Catholic (a period I don’t like talking about). I was trying to find myself, and when I discovered an online community for Dudeism, I almost on the spot ordered my copy of “The Abide Guide: Living Like Lebowski” and have had the same ratty paperback ever since.

The basic belief behind Dudeism is basically just being yourself, going with the flow and taking it easy when life gets crazy since we don’t live forever so we don’t have time to deal with bullshit.

As someone who had already followed the “Utopian Playland” mindset that we need to just follow our passions and dreams to build a better world.

I felt it would blend with my own ideals for a better life and a better society in general.

For those who are unaware of the “Utopian Playland” idea, it was created by Rion M. Vernon for his stage persona of “Doctor Phineas Waldolf Steel,” who wanted to make the world a happier place as the world was too full of pain and anger, people who gave up on their passions and became soulless husks of who they could have become.

Fast-forward to 2019, where I got one of the first Honorary Degrees from The Church of the Latter-Day Dude [the official name of Dudeism], which was a divinity doctoral degree (not to be confused with my Honorary Philosophy degree from ULC out of Modesto, California).

Then, on July 1st, 2023, I became “The Dudeship of The Wired” and well, here we are from that.

Rather than closing this off with a quote from The Big Lebowski or a follow Dudeist minster, I would like to close this with a quote from a song by Marquis of Vaudeville

“Productive members of society
That’s all we’re ever taught to be
But when society is failing
The dreamers rise above and lead
To Utopian Playland”
