A Decade of Chonky Day Dreams

It’s been 10 years since I discovered what I desired physically, and it’s been a real rollercoaster, so let’s talk about the changes I’ve seen in the plus-size world.

For some background on my life, I had always had some signs I liked bigger women and men growing up, but it wasn’t until May 27, 2014 everything would click into place, I was going to pick up a pre-order of the eighth studio album of iconic industrial rock Powerman 5000, “Builders of the Future.”.

You see, growing up, I was a fan of Powerman 5000 due to playing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 so much. Well, on May 27, 2014, I went and picked up a pre-order of the album “Builders of the Future.” and as I was in the mall, I saw a plus-sized woman who was breathtaking, and it made me realize what I truly liked and desired in a partner.

When I saw the plus-size woman that day, I was so confused, but when I got back to my apartment that night, I slowly started to realize what the emotions I was feeling were.

This would lead me to search to see if I was alone in this feeling. Society sadly belittles and throws aside plus-sized and plump people, men or women, and I truly never understood it.

Thankfully, I slowly discovered a great community ranging from websites, IRC chatrooms, Discord servers, and Reddit communities.

Sadly It wasn’t until 2017 that I discovered there was even a whole academic journal just for plus-sized studies called “Fat Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Body Weight and Society,” published by Taylor & Francis. I’ve gotten to the point where whenever a new issue is released, I’ll head to my local university to be able to read the journal and take notes for my personal studying.

Along with the launch of my plus-size website, Obese.Moe last month, I couldn’t help but realize that being chubby or plump, hell even downright fat, is slowly becoming more common and accepted.

I mean, we’ll have no choice but to accept it due to the fact that more than half of the world will be overweight by 2035, and I personally welcome this change in society.

I would like to leave you with the song I was listening to that fateful day when everything changed.
