The CoreBoot Daily Driver: Testing Team Fortress 2

After testing Counter-Strike 2 I decided it was time to test out Team Fortress 2. Like before, I tested this on February 29th of 2024, and I was amazed at the FPS I was able to get on the machine.

I am aware the game is old, but it was quite happy with how it ran.

I was running the game on mid-settings at 1600×900 and decided to do a tour of Mann Up/Mann vs Machine.

Furthermore, I was able to average 109 FPS and the lowest the frames dipped down was only 98 FPS with a bunch of action going on. The CPU? Oh, that is the amazing part, readers, somehow it was under 58 degrees Celsius the whole time.

Some readers might not get why that’s impressive, well put simply Team Fortress is not known for being optimized very well as it still uses a code base from almost a decade ago just with some extra code added on top to allow for new features and game modes. I mean it’s taken years just to get a 64-Bit built on Linux and it’s still not out to the public yet.

I am quite impressed with my NovaCustom machine so far and I hope things keep going well.
