As some might know or not but Jon Stewart the former host of The Daily Show from 1999 to 2015 on Comedy Central is returning to host the series as a guest host.
Now the daily show owes a lot of its style and that to a show that’s been on the air for 30 years that show’s name “This Hour Has 22 Minutes”; just like how The Daily Show allowed The Colbert Report to start in 2005 Canada had its own answer which began airing on January 12, 2004 that show was “Rick Mercer’s Monday Report” which ran for 255 episodes until April 10, 2018.
You can see the similar styles with Rick Mercer’s “Desk Segments” but what always gave the show its own feeling were the skits and “Rick’s Rant” segments.
Looking back on the older “Rick’s Rant” segments for this entry, I am reminded how I ended up with my style…the unholy mixture of Foamy’s Rant from illwillpress, Dr. Hunter S. Thompson’s writings and Rick’s Rant yet this is beside the point for now look we are falling apart as a country, and we truly need is Rick to return I am sorry Rick if you are reading this, I get it you are 54 at this point but even if it’s just a weekly 10-minute rant video on a green screen that would be fine…we just really could use your wisdom at this point.
